Newton Learning was founded by Renee Carney, a classroom teacher with 17 years of experience working with students who have diverse learning needs. After year after year of fragmented, time-consuming tools that failed to meet those students’ needs — and that quietly stole planning time from the teachers who already had too little — Renee returned to graduate school and completed a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) with a single goal: build the intervention workspace she had spent nearly two decades searching for.

That combination of classroom pedagogy and engineering is the foundation of the platform. Every tool is shaped by what actually works in a special-education classroom, and every workflow is designed so a teacher can produce a usable, research-aligned resource in minutes rather than hours. As a practicing curriculum designer, Renee grounds each module in established special-education practice — explicit, systematic instruction, the science of reading, Universal Design for Learning, PBIS, and task analysis for students with moderate-to-severe needs — rather than bolting AI onto disconnected worksheets.

The result is Newton Learning, an AI-integrated ecosystem that streamlines instructional design, behavioral support, and academic intervention under one teacher-owned workspace. The platform is named after Newton, the founder’s Maltipoo — a small reminder of the patience and steady, unconditional dedication teachers bring to their classrooms every day, and the spirit the tool is built to give back to them.

Newton Learning is built privacy-first. We do not sell student data, we do not serve behavioral advertising, and we operate under FERPA’s school-official exception and COPPA’s teacher-facing-tool framework.
